Foreclosure Rescue Operations: Beware!

With high foreclosure rates experienced in the whole nation, you would not be surprised of the many homeowners facing foreclosures who fall for illegitimate foreclosure rescue operations. These homeowners often fall victims to unscrupulous individual offering foreclosure rescue operations without suspecting that they are being scammed. Only when they are left with no home and no money will they realize how gullible they have been for believing that there is an easy way out.

Box 1

If your home is facing foreclosure, you must NEVER think that the solution is going to be easy. You will have to face the reality that you will have to make more sacrifices in the near future especially in the way you handle your finances. In truth, there are legitimate foreclosure rescue operations designed to stop foreclosure. You should be able to spot them from the illegitimate ones. Here are some examples of what an illegitimate foreclosure rescue operation involves.

The lender will try to establish credibility by asking you to pay a “service fee” that supposedly formalizes your transaction.

You will be asked to sign over your deed as collateral and will be signed back to you once more as soon as your mortgage payment becomes current. FACT: You should never sign a deed unless you are selling your home.

You will be lead to believe that the matter of signing over the deed is urgent because of reasons such as limited offer and limited slots available. FACT: There are many non-profit mortgage counseling organizations that can help you verify the legitimacy of the documents you were being asked to sign by this foreclosure rescue operation. Take all the time you need to carefully read and study these documents.

The lender will insist on transacting directly with your lender and will not even ask you to be present when they are supposedly paying your amount past due nor allow you to contact your lender without their knowledge and approval. FACT: You should personally make your monthly mortgage payments and never allow anyone to pay on your behalf. Your lender should be the first to know if you will be having trouble making your monthly payments. Constant communications will make your lender think that you are willing to cooperate.

Foreclosure rescue operations have become a really risky option for homeowners facing foreclosure. These operations have already destroyed the credibility of legitimate foreclosure rescue operations offered by reputable lending institutions, real estate brokers and government agencies.
